What's the difference between ebooks and audiobooks?
- Ebooks you read on your screen yourself, just like a regular book. Audiobooks are read to you, (often by a famous actor) just the same as listening to music or a podcast.
Do a need a special ereader like a Kindle to read ebooks?
- No most devices, including cellphones and tablets, can be used for ebooks and audiobooks, you just need to download the correct app.
Do you need to pay to use ebooks (reading on screen) or audiobooks (listening to a book being read)?
- No, our school library has ebooks you can borrow and Waitaki District Libraries has ebooks and audiobooks. If you would like to listen to older or "classic" books which are out of copyright you can download books read by volunteer readers on LibriVox.
Do you need to join Waitaki District Libraries to use their audiobooks?
- Yes, we have membership packs you can take to fill in on the School Library desk. our school library has ebooks you can borrow and Waitaki District Libraries has ebooks and audiobooks.
If I borrow an ebook or audiobook how do I return it?
- If you borrow from a library it will automatically disappear off your device when the due date comes. In the school library that's 3 weeks.
How do I put the books onto my phone/device to read?
- You need to download the correct app for the library you want to use. Most libraries use Overdrive or Wheelers ePlatform.
